Privacy Policy
The short version: the game has no accounts, and playing it never requires you to give us anything. Your settings, scores, and progress are stored only in your own browser and are never sent to us. If you choose to ask for our free guide, we receive the email address you type and nothing else. We may use privacy-conscious website analytics or advertising attribution to understand how people find the game and whether our outreach is working — but that never includes what you do inside the game. We deliberately collect as little as practical.
1. What we don’t collect
Steadycase Courtroom Practice is a static website and a browser game. We do not require an account, and we do not receive, transmit, or store your gameplay. What you do in the game — the modes you pick, the calls you make, your scores — stays on your device and is never tracked or sent to us. The one thing we ever ask for is an email address, and only if you choose to request our free guide; you can play every case, every mode, and every pack without giving us one. For website traffic and advertising measurement, see section 4.
2. What stays on your device
The game uses your browser’s local storage to remember, on your own device only:
- your last-used game settings (mode, difficulty, practice area);
- your lifetime score (XP) and level;
- whether you have seen the intro walkthrough and the one-time notice about the game being educational; and
- any pack unlock codes you enter, so packs stay unlocked on that device.
You can erase all of it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. If you do, the game simply starts fresh.
3. What is collected, and by whom
- Hosting (Cloudflare). Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) to serve and secure the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Fonts. The game and these pages self-host their typefaces (Lilita One, Karla, and Space Mono). Your browser does not request fonts from Google or any other third-party font host. After the first visit the service worker caches the font files for offline play.
- Analytics and advertising attribution. We may use website analytics, referral information, campaign links, or advertising-attribution tools to understand how people find the game, measure whether our ads and outreach work, and improve the site. These tools may process information such as the page visited, the referring site or campaign link, device or browser information, approximate location, and signup or purchase events. They do not receive what you do inside the game.
- Email list (Kit). If you choose to give us your email for the free companion guide or product updates, Kit (ConvertKit, kit.com) processes your email address, opt-in status, tags or form-source information, and related email-delivery data. Kit asks you to confirm the address before anything is sent. We use that information for the guide, educational emails, and product updates, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every message. Entries are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, subject to any records we must retain. We do not sell or rent the list, and it is never connected to what you do inside the game, because your gameplay never reaches us at all.
- Support email. If you contact support@getsteadycase.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. Please don’t send us details of a real legal matter — we cannot advise on it.
4. Analytics and advertising attribution
We may use privacy-conscious website analytics and advertising-attribution tools to understand traffic, measure campaigns, and decide which outreach is useful — for example, to learn that someone who clicked one of our ads went on to unlock a pack. This measures visits to the website and its pages, not your gameplay. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use any contact information for ad targeting unless we first update this policy and obtain any consent required by law or platform rules.
5. If we sell content packs
We may offer optional paid content packs in the future. If we do, checkout and payment will be handled by a third-party merchant of record — we will never see your payment card — and we will update this policy to name the provider and describe what they collect before purchases open.
6. Children
The game and this site are intended for law students, self-represented adults, and other adult learners, and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Your choices and rights
You can play the entire game without giving us any information. To remove everything the game has stored, clear this site’s data in your browser. If you have contacted support, you may request a copy or deletion of that correspondence at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local privacy law.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with an updated date.
